We shall take two different trails and we shall hike from Tutume, Kajeri, Mude. We shall be sleeping at Mude camp for two nights and on the fourth day we shall be hiking to the summit so you will need to have enough rest to gain enough energy. This will not be a circle circuit because we shall be coming out of the mountain after spending two nights at Mude camp.
DAY 1: TRANSFER TO MT. ELGON STARTING POINT IN KWEEN DISTRICT, START HIKING UPTO
TUTUME CAVE.
We shall transfer from Kampala very early in the morning and we shall reach at around 11am to relax, have lunch then start the hike.
The hike will take probably 5 hours set off at 1pm after lunch. To Tutume cave, arrive at the camp at 5pm and enjoy the cave experience camp fire and rest.
DAY 2: SET OFF FOR KAJERI CAMP
You shall have breakfast early in the morning and set off at a half past 8am for the next camp (Kajeri camp), the hike would take roughly 7-8 hours. The journey would make us encounter birds, animals like antelopes and also have our packed lunch. At this point we shall be heading for low temperatures to an altitude of 300m above sea level, arrive and set the tents, enjoy the sunset campfire and dinner and then rest.
DAY 3: HIKING TO MUDE CAMP
This is the longest day of the hike because it involves passing through moorlands to some of the most iconic valleys and the most beautiful caldera, mude caves, arrive at the camp and set our tents, campfire, hot tea/coffee as well as we require you to be on warm stocks. Dinner and then rest.
DAY 4: HEAD TO THE SUMMIT
Fourth day is the day we head to the summit to an elevation of 4321 meters above sea level passing through the Jackson pool, peak and gorge as we head to the summit. And back and we shall be hiking for about 18km in total going and coming back to the camp. We will have lunch at the Jackson pool on your way back from the summit.
And then bead back to the camp, we will be allowed by the campfire and some hot water, coffee tea as well as relax to watch the sunset.
DAY 5: HEADING BACK
This is the last day of the hike on the mountain along an amazing, heading out and having a break at the wall of death view point, snack point as we head to the point where the motor-cycles will pick you from to the lunch point, have lunch and say bye and later our driver to transfer you back to Kampala.
NOTE;
Make sure you carry along with some pain killers or tablets, we shall be having boiled water.
